Showing Attention is expressions to show attention to someone.

Example:

- you look so beautifull today
- you are different today

Example a dialogue:

Elin : how are you today, putra?
putra: I'm fine, and you?
Elin : fine thanks.
putra: Elin, today, you look so beautifull
Elin : thank you.

PAST TENSE

Past Tense

Past tense used to declare an act or activity which occurred in the past.

Formula of simple past tense:

1. subject+ verb 2 + object + adverb of time
example:
I went to Bandung last month

2. Subject + did + not + verb 1
example:
I didn't to class yesterday

3. Did + subject + verb 1
example:
did you come to my house?

AGREEMENT OF INVITATION

Agreement of invitation

Agreement of invitation is expression to accept an invitation

Example:

Inviting someone
- Would you like to.....
-shall we....?
-iwould like you to......

Accepting an invitation
- thank you very much
- that would be very nice

Declining an invitation
- thank you very much, but.....
- I'm sorry I can;t, must to....
-i'd like to,.but....

PROCEDURE TEXT

Procedure text

Definition of Procedure.
Procedure is a text that show a process in order. Its social function is to describe how something is completely done through a sequence of series.

Generic Structure of Procedure.
a. Goal: Showing the purpose
b. Material: Telling the needed materials
c. Step 1-end: Describing the steps to achieve the purpose

Language Feature of Procedure.
a.Using temporal conjunction
b.Using action verb
c.Using imperative sentence
d.Using Simple Present Tense

How to Make a Cheese Omelet

Have you ever eaten a cheese omelet? Do you know how to make a Cheese Omelet? No? Would you like me to tell it for you? Okay. This is the way. Listen to me.
To make a Cheese Omelet, you should prepare ingredients such as one egg, 50 grams of cheese, uhm… ¼ cups of milk, three tablespoons of cooking oil, uhm…what else ….? Oh, yeah, a pinch of salt and don’t forget some pepper.
Now, to make a Cheese Omelet, you will need some kitchen utensils like a frying pan, a fork, a whisk, a spatula, uhm….. a cheese grater …and a bowl and of course ….a plate. Okay? Are you following me? Right! Let me tell you how to make it.
First, crack an egg into a bowl like this. Then whisk the egg with a fork until it is smooth. After that, add some milk and whisk well. Grate the cheese into the bowl and stir. Next, heat the oil in a frying pan, and pour the mixture into the frying pan. Then, turn the omelet with a spatula when it browns. See, like this. Okay, next cook both sides. After the omelet is done, place it on a plate, don’t forget to season it with salt and pepper and you can eat it while warm. It’s easy, isn’t it? Bon appetite

Narrative text

Narrative text is a kind of text to retell the story that past tense. The purpose of the text is to entertain or to amuse the readers or listeners about the story.

The generic structure of Narrative text :
Orientation :
It set the scene and introduce the participants (it answers the question : who, when, what, and where).

Complication :
Tells the problems of the story and how the main characters solve them.

Resolution :
The crisis is revolved, for better or worse.

Re-orientation :
The ending of the story.

Evaluation :
The stepping back to evaluate the story or the moral message of the story


Linguistic features :
1. Use active verbs.
2. Use past tense.
3. Use conjunction.
4. The first person (I or We) or the third person (He, She, or They).
5. Use specific nouns.
6. Use adjective and adverbs

Kind of Narrative text :
1. Legend : Sangkuriang, Malin Kundang, etc.
2. Fable : Mousedeer and crocodile.
3. Fairy tale : Cinderella, Snow white, Pinocchio, etc.
4. Science fiction

Example of Narrative text :

JONAH

Once upon a time there was a village in North Israel. All the people lived peacefully there. One of them was Jonah. Jonah lived with his parents. They loved him very much. (Orientation 1)

In the north of Israel was Syria. It had powerful knights. They were very cruel and liked to invade other countries. (Orientation 2)

One night when the people of Jonah’s village were sleeping, the Syrian knights attacked his village. They burned down the houses. One of them threw a torch into Jonah’s house. Jonah’s house was on fire. (Complication)

Jonah and his parents avoided the fire burning their house. They saved themselves by climbing a ladder to the upstairs. It was too high for them to jump down to the ground from the upstairs. Jonah’s father took a rope to get down from the stairs to the ground. They escaped to another village.(Resolution)

Jonah and his parents lived in a fishermen village. They became fishermen. (Reorientation)

One day, when they were fishing in the sea, Jonah fell into the sea. Jonah was drawn into the sea. A whale came closed to him. He tried to swim avoiding the whale as fast as possible but he failed and at last the whale swallowed him. Jonah was still alive in the stomach of the whale. He prayed to God to be released from the stomach of the whale.(Complication)

Fortunately God granted his prayer. The whale came closed to an island. It opened its mouth and Jonah came out from its stomach.(Resolution)

Jonah swam to the seashore and he lived in a new island.(Reorientation)

Moral value : Don’t give up when you face the problem

Recount Text


Recount text is the text to retell past event or something which happened in the past.
The purpose of recount text is can be only to inform or even just to entertain. Recount text used simple past tense.

there is three type of recount text:
1. personal recount
2. factual recount
3. imaginative recount

structure of recount text
1.orientation
2. events
3. re-orientation

example of recount text:

Vacation to London

Mr. Richard’s family was on vacation. They are Mr. and Mrs. Richard with two sons. They went to London. They saw their travel agent and booked their tickets. They went to the British Embassy to get visas to enter Britain. They had booked fourteen days tour. This includes travel and accommodation. They also included tours around London
They boarded a large Boeing flight. The flight was nearly fourteen hours. On the plane the cabin crews were very friendly. They gave them news paper and magazine to read. They gave them food and drink. There was a film for their entertainment. They had a very pleasant flight. They slept part of the way.
On arrival at Heathrow Airport, they had to go to Customs and Immigration. The officers were pleasant. They checked the document carefully but their manners were very polite. Mr. Richard and his family collected their bags and went to London Welcome Desk. They arranged the transfer to a hotel.
The hotel was a well-known four-star hotel. The room had perfect view of the park. The room had its own bathroom and toilet. Instead of keys for the room, they inserted a key-card to open the door. On the third floor, there was a restaurant serving Asian and European food. They had variety of food.
The two week in London went by fast. At the end of the 14-day, they were quite tired but they felt very happy.
